JUICES & SMOOTHIES

Once you have read the information in the fruits and Vegetable section, highlighting the facts of what each piece of fruit and vegetable can help with from a simple boost of energy to help insomnia or to ensure you are getting your five a day, juicing can be beneficial in many ways.

Here are just a few ideas that I have tried, be inventive and create your own ideas, email them to me and I will publish them on to the site to share with others.

Things to remember:

Don't juice Banana or Avocado these are better blended and added to either a juice or smoothies not only to make a thicker consistency but also the health  benefits they have offer.

Don't put orange or lemon rind through the juicer it will block and damage the machine.

Don't make large quantities - fresh juice oxidizes and can turn brown very quickly.

Don't gulp the juice, sip it slowly, savouring the flavours and allowing it to mix with the enzymes in your saliva.

Fruit and vegetable generally do not mix well and may cause wind, with one exception being carrot and apple these can be mixed with virtually anything. They are also the best juice to balance stronger flavours such as broccoli, cucumber is also useful.

Do experiment - enjoy - savour - share. Remember that you are actually doing your body some good.

Do Make sure that you drink both fruit and vegetable juices too many fruit juices will fill you up with fructose (fruit sugars) and vegetables mixes contain many vital vitamins not present in fruits.

Do make something suitable for the time of day i.e. fresh fruits are more suitable for breakfast rather than broccoli or Brussels.

 
 
 

 

SALTS
Do you know how much salt you consume as part of your daily diet?

SUGARS
Sugars can occur naturally in food and they can be added to food.

WATER
In climates such as in the UK, we should drink about 6 to 8 glasses (1.2 litres) of water

Juice

1/2 Honey Dew Melon

Separate from peel no need to discard seeds

1/2 Mango

Remove stone and peel

Excellent for:

Eczema relieving itchiness, as well as helping you to relax
